The Specter of Hunger

I was looking at the Tribune today and came across this picture in an article about the photographer, Kevin Carter. He won a Pulitzer Prize for this picture taken in the Sudan back in the early'90s. He witnessed and photographed the final days of the Apartheid regime in South Africa and was already a renowned photographer when this picture was taken of this little girl in the Sudan.

I somehow stumbled upon this image a couple of months back - while researching Rwanda - I was shaken.

In the end oppressors are oppressors, whatever their religion or ethnicity or intentions.
